INDUSTRIAL THERMAL IMAGING TESTING ADELAIDE

INFRARED THERMOGRAPHY SOLUTIONS

In heavy industrial environments, the most dangerous electrical faults are the ones you can’t see. Thermal imaging , also known as infrared thermography, is a non-destructive testing method that detects heat anomalies, overloaded circuits, and failing connections before they cause a fire or an unplanned shutdown.

At TA Electrical, our ITC-certified (ISO 18436) industrial electricians use high-resolution infrared cameras (including FLIR and Fluke systems) to scan your live switchboards, motor control centres, and heavy machinery under normal operating load. We find the hot spots, tell you exactly what they mean, and help you fix them before they become a real problem.

WHY TRUST OUR THERMOGRAPHY AUDITS

LIVE NDT SCANNING

Non-destructive testing under full load, no factory shutdowns required.

ARC FLASH PREVENTION

Identifying loose connections and micro-arcing before they become serious.

INSURANCE COMPLIANCE

Detailed reporting that satisfies underwriter and facility insurance requirements.

ADVANCED DIAGNOSTICS

Delta-T (ΔT) analysis that accounts for environmental variables and material emissivity.

PREVENTATIVE FOCUS

Moving your facility from reactive breakdowns to planned, predictable maintenance.

OUR THERMAL IMAGING CAPABILITY

Infrared scanning built around protecting the electrical infrastructure your facility depends on.

SWITCHBOARD & PANEL SCANS

  • Main Distribution Board (MDB) inspections
  • Motor Control Centre (MCC) thermal audits
  • Detecting loose busbar joints
  • Phase load imbalance identification
  • AS/NZS 3000 compliance safety reporting

HEAVY MACHINERY & MOTORS

  • Variable Speed Drive (VSD) internal thermal checks
  • Industrial motor bearing and winding scans
  • Conveyor friction diagnostics

AGRICULTURE & WINE

Pre-vintage thermal checks on grape crushers, pumps, and seasonal high-load machinery.

SEEING THE INVISIBLE THREATS

A visual inspection isn’t enough. A busbar connection can look completely fine on the surface while generating serious heat internally from a slightly loose bolt or oxidised terminal. When you bring thermal imaging into your annual maintenance program, you stop guessing. We identify and grade every fault by severity, so minor issues get scheduled for the next planned outage instead of turning into emergency callouts at the worst possible time.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THERMAL IMAGING

Do we need to shut down our factory for a thermal scan?

No, and shutting down defeats the purpose. Thermal imaging needs to be done while your facility is running at normal or peak load. The current flowing through your infrastructure is what generates the heat signatures we’re looking for.

Best practice for heavy industrial and manufacturing facilities is a full thermographic scan every 12 months. Most commercial insurance underwriters also require annual thermal imaging reports to maintain fire coverage.

We use Delta-T (ΔT) analysis to grade every fault by its temperature differential relative to identical components under the same load. Minor issues get logged for your next planned maintenance window. If we find something that poses an immediate fire risk, we tell your facility manager straight away so you can isolate and address it safely.
